Donald Trump revealed that Ben Carson is a candidate for the top spot at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I’ve gotten to know him well—he’s a greatly talented person who loves people!,” Trump said on his Twitter page today.

Carson, who has been rumored for a possible cabinet post, had earlier said he was leaning against taking a job in the administration.

A Republican presidential candidate this year, Carson has no experience leading a government agency.

Armstrong Williams, Carson’s business manager, last week told The Hill that the retired neurosurgeon was not interested in serving as Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services. “Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency,” Williams told The Hill.

It’s hard to say just how seriously Carson is being considered for the HUD job when his close friend has cited Carson’s preference to be an adviser and inexperience in overseeing an agency.

A number of other names have been floated for HUD secretary.
