President Trump is nominating Brian Montgomery to be deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Montgomery is currently assistant secretary for housing, Federal Housing (FHA) commissioner. He’s been head of the FHA twice under three different administrations. As assistant secretary, he oversees HUD’s project-based Section 8 rental assistance housing program, the Office of Housing Counseling, and HUD’s Manufactured Housing Program. He’s also responsible for the management of FHA’s more than $1.4 trillion mortgage insurance portfolio.

Montgomery has been serving as acting deputy director this year after Pam Patenaude announced her resignation from the agency’s No. 2 post at the end of 2018.
