Could Shaun Donovan Be N.Y.C.’s Next Mayor?

The former HUD secretary files paperwork to run for mayor.

Shaun Donovan, a former secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under President Barack Obama, has filed paperwork to run for mayor of New York City, reports Azi Paybarah of The New York Times.

Speculation has long surrounded Donovan’s interest in leading the nation’s largest city. In addition to serving as the nation’s top housing official, he was director of the Office of Management and Budget under Obama. Before going to D.C., he led New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
